Where to Find Food Assistance on Your Campus or in Your City

It’s back-to-school time! Fall is often an exciting time for students, but it also means big expenses: tuition, rent, and food. To make sure your food budget doesn’t become a last resort, we’re sharing our best tips for finding food assistance on your campus and in your city. Let’s get started!

Food Assistance on Your Campus

Student Associations

Student associations are dedicated to defending students’ rights and interests. Many student organizations use part of their budget to invest in food security through various projects, such as shared refrigerators, community kitchens, and the distribution of free or affordable food. To find out what services your student association offers, check their social media, stop by their office, or visit the National Campus Food Network website.

The National Campus Food Network is a website we developed in partnership with the Concordia Food Coalition. It features a map listing food assistance organizations and programs run by and for students on college and university campuses in Quebec and Ontario. Check it out—maybe your campus is already listed there!

Student Services

Your school may be able to offer you some help. The Student Services Office (or Student Life Office) has staff, resources, and programs designed to improve student well-being. Some campuses offer food assistance or emergency funds to students in need. Don’t hesitate to contact your school to find out more.

Aide alimentaire dans ta ville

These resources are available to everyone, because we know that one in three students says they don’t have enough to eat or have to limit their food choices. If you need a little help, too, don’t hesitate to use them—that’s what they’re there for. Everyone deserves to eat well at an affordable price. Have a great start to the school year!
